Painting in the Leelanau Peninsula.

More than a decade ago, Frank Speyers set out from the Thoreson Farm as a Glen Arbor Art Center Artist-in-Residence to chase down the iconic light at the 45th parallel.
Painting ancient natural features along M22 from clear inland lakes, winding roads, the windswept bluffs of Sleeping Bear Dunes, as well as weathered farmhouses, he sought that which was not visible and found something that was as unmistakable as it was hard to define.
Frank’s work not only celebrates the seasonal cycles but also hearkens to that which is beyond the grasp of the empirical.
Frank’s paintings are represented by Tamarack Gallery in Omena Michigan.
